The need for reporting in predefined formats, taking document printouts and transactional details is never expected to go out of demand.

Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition utilizes SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)-hosted Azure compute service. This service runs in the Azure compute emulator together with the application server. Therefore, there are no SSRS service administration prerequisites.

The process of running a report is as simple as clicking a link, providing parameters and filters, and running it. The reports could also be scheduled to run at periodic intervals. One can also decide the format of the report output.

One can also install/configure the modern design template, which can be downloaded from LCS and installed in the environment. This is a step forward in allowing configuration-driven branding of SSRS reports, useful when information needs to be shared with external parties.

Reports are deployed in a package to cloud and their development process is quite easy. The entire process of developing a report in the current version of Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition can be done in Visual Studio 2015.

When combined with ER, one can use an electronic medium to transmit these reports/documents. There is a dedicated workspace to configure several ER needs, supporting a wide variety of formats.
