Upgrading/migration planning

Upgrading or migrating from Dynamics AX 2012 or AX 2009 is not an easy task especially when you have large customization. Just like an implementation project, an upgrade project needs proper project strategy and planning. To execute a successful upgrade project, you need a proper project plan, change management, test, training, and deployment planning. Even before you start the upgrade project, you have to evaluate if you are ready for an upgrade and evaluate what activities you have to do.

As shown in the preceding image, four quadrants spanning operations/business, system, cloud, and digital factors to assess and capture readiness metrics to ensure that the change initiative involving the upgrade runs smoothly. It is important to plan around each area; let's explore various considerations during upgrade planning in these areas.
