The usage profile that is generated can be used for various purposes, such as hardware sizing for production environment by Microsoft and support.

The usage profiler seeks information in the following broad three sections:

• Deployment details
• Instance characteristics
• Retail and commerce

Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services subscription estimator provides an automated estimate of the subscription needed for your Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition instance:

• It uses the user license details and the transaction count to infer the subscription needs
• There can be multiple versions of estimates and one of them can be marked as Active, which in turn is used by Microsoft for production sizing purpose support
