Chrome and the Android Browser

Google actually has two Web browsers, just as it has two operating systems (Android and Chrome OS). Google makes the Chrome web browser, but it also makes the Chrome OS, which is built around that browser and designed to run on laptops known as Chromebooks. It might appear that Android tablets use the Chrome browser, but they actually use a different, Android-specific browser: the Browser app (AKA the Android browser). Both browsers were based on Webkit, which was originally developed by Apple to power Safari and is now used in a variety of mobile browsers.

NOTE: The Android browser isn’t Chrome, so you can’t run Chrome extensions on your Android tablet. However, you can sync bookmarks, which we’ll get to later in this chapter.
