Evernote

Evernote is my favorite note-taking app. It’s free and syncs to your computer or phone. You can use it to store text notes, photos, voice memos, and even your location. Why is your location important? You might want to keep track of where you parked or the location of a store you visited. Register for an Evernote account at www.evernote.com.

Items in Evernote can be organized in many ways. You can assign tags, organize by date, or simply search through the content in your notes. When you launch the Evernote app in Android, by default all your notes are organized by date with a large Calendar view, as shown in Figure 18–14.

Notice that the navigation options are to the side and top. Tap the Tag button on the left to browse by tag. You can also tap on a note within the calendar to edit that item.

To add a new note, tap the New Note button on the upper-right corner of the screen. As Figure 18–15 illustrates, you can enter text, add formatting, and attach a wide variety of file types directly from your tablet. Your item will be synced with your Evernote account online.

Evernote Premium

The Evernote app isn’t without limits. You can create as many notes as you wish, but you’re limited on file size. If you upload a lot of large files, you may run into storage limits and need to purchase a Premium account. The Premium account is US $5 per month or US $45 per year, and it offers increased upload space, as well as support for more file types and offline editing.
