Pandora

Pandora is an Internet radio station that creates custom playlists based on a song or artist you like. You can’t pick exact songs or groups, but you can indicate whether or not you like or dislike the choices Pandora makes for you. You can register for a free account at www.pandora.com. Free accounts are sponsored by ads and require you to occasionally tap something to indicate you’re still listening. Pandora also offers paid accounts for US $36 per year. Paid accounts offer unlimited listening and higher quality audio files.

The Android version of the app doesn’t yet support creating your own playlist, but you can visit Pandora from your tablet’s browser and create new playlists that way.

The biggest disadvantage of Pandora is that it is only streaming. You can purchase songs by tapping the Menu button, but you can’t use the app itself without an Internet connection. If you’re using a 3G or 4G connection, that could get expensive, so be careful. Pandora is shown in Figure 21–13.
