Extending the Clock

You may have noticed that your tablet’s Clock app came with a rather boring digital Clock widget. In some cases, you may have a different widget that shipped with your tablet. In others, it’s just the glowing blue digital clock. Fear not: there are tons of clock widgets in the Android Market available in both free and premium versions. Most combine weather forecasts with the time display, which is really useful when trying to figure out what you’re going to wear in the morning. Figure 23–6 shows a few widgets you can download.

Alternate Alarms

The app store has much more than widgets; it also has many alternative alarms. Alarm Clock Plus and Alarm Clock Extreme offer features beyond the basics. For example, Alarm Clock Extreme has a gigantic Snooze button, and it makes you solve math problems to prove you’re awake. Alarm Clock Plus offers to speak the weather and time when the alarm goes off.

Before you commit to paying for an alternative alarm, however, you should verify that it will look good on a tablet.
