Spotify

Spotify is an Internet music service that originated in Europe and was recently introduced in the US. Although you can get a free Spotify account, it’s really not as useful on Android unless you subscribe to a paid account. Paid accounts run US $5 and $10 monthly and offer unlimited, ad-free listening to an amazing collection of songs and artists. You can also create playlists that you can share with other users through Facebook. When you install the Spotify app on a computer, it scans that computer to find any music you already own, and then adds your music and playlists to your available collection.

Although you can’t stream any music from Spotify on your Android without a paid account, you can still use the service to play files already stored on your device (see Figure 21–14).
