GetJar

GetJar originally launched in 2004 (before Android) as a place for developer feedback. Today, it’s one of the largest truly independent app stores in the world, and it even includes the largest free app store. You can find apps for Android and other platforms by navigating either to the full www.getjar.com site or to its mobile version at m.getjar.com. If you browse GetJar’s website from your tablet, it will auto-detect the type of device you have (i.e., an Android tablet). Otherwise, you specify your device on the website (see Figure 14–9).

In the case of GetJar, it’s easier to install apps directly from your tablet because you still have to launch the website from your tablet and then enter a code to specify the correct app.
