If you’d like to start developing for Android tablets, the best place to start is the official site for Android development at http://developer.android.com/. Here, you can download the Android software development kit and register as a developer. You can also find some terrific Android development books in the Apress library. Other resources include the following:

• App Inventor for Android (www.appinventorbeta.com/): This project was originally developed by Google and is now open-sourced and hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It allows you to program apps on the Web using an easier to master interface based on the MIT Scratch project.
• PhoneGap (www.phonegap.com):This project uses CSS and JavaScript to create apps for multiple platforms.
