Factory Data Resets

If you ever sell your tablet or send it in for repairs or upgrades, you’ll need to perform a factory reset or a hard reset to wipe all your personal information off the machine. This is also a last resort for troubleshooting problems with your device. Note that you won’t lose information you’ve stored in the cloud, such as your Gmail messages, your app purchases, or any photos you’ve published to Picasa. Follow these steps to perform a factory reset:

  1. Tap your finger on the bottom-right corner of the screen to open the Settings menu.
  2. Tap the Settings icon. You should see the Settings menu.
  3. Tap Privacy from the Settings menu. It should be on your left.
  4. Look at the choices on the right. Under Personal Data, you’ll see the Factory data reset choice.
  5. Pressing this button will erase all your data and restore the factory default settings. You’ll be asked for confirmation; and once you confirm, your data will be wiped from the table (see Figure A–1).
