Joining Accounts

As you go through your contacts list, you may notice that you have lots of duplicate contacts. That’s because your contacts are pooling from any account you’ve authorized for account syncing on your tablet. You may have separate Twitter, Skype, Exchange, and Gmail listings for the same person.

The solution is to join those accounts. This action just groups them together in the Contacts app, and you can separate the accounts later if you desire.

Follow these steps to join an account:

  1. Tap the Pencil icon to start editing the desired contact.
  2. Tap the Options button on the upper-right corner of the screen.
  3. Select Join.
  4. Choose which contacts you’d like to merge, as shown in Figure 9–6.

You’ll automatically see any contacts with the same name; but in case you’ve got multiple contacts with different names, such as maiden names or company names, just tap Show all contacts to find them.

Contacts that are joined will say so on the upper-right corner of the display, rather than show a specific account. All available fields for that account will be displayed.
