Summary

Properly planning and sizing a Lync voice deployment is absolutely critical to a successful rollout. It is important to spend time working through the dial plan and address all extension ranges and anomalies such as main lines, common area phones, or fax machines. Evaluate the voice needs in each office and properly evaluate trunk capacity requirements, and site survivability needs.

Emergency services is another important piece that must be considered. Many states have varying laws on what is required, so be sure to include legal teams and office managers in these discussions.

Lastly, the end user experience is largely what determines how successful a deployment is. Evaluate the handsets, headsets, and peripheral devices which will be used by people on a daily basis. Not all users will like the same device, so offering a variety based on work needs is generally well received.
