Lync Configuration for Exchange UM

With the Exchange UM configuration in place, Lync can be configured to integrate with Exchange UM as the final step in the process. If Lync dial plans have not already been configured at this point, the dial plans would need to be configured to allow call routing between the various components. For details on the process for configuring Lync dial plans and voice routing, see Chapter 17, “Lync Telephony and Voice Integration.” After a dial plan is in place, the remaining task is to create the AD contact objects that are required to resolve and locate the Exchange UM subscriber access and auto-attendant services. To facilitate creating these contact objects, Microsoft provides the Exchange UM Integration Utility, which has an executable filename of OcsUmUtil.exe, and is located in the subdirectory C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft Lync Server 2013Support on each Lync Front End Server. The following procedure is used to configure the subscriber access and auto-attendant contact objects using the Exchange UM Integration Utility:

1. Log on to the Lync Front End Server using an account with permissions to create Active Directory objects in the domain, and then use Windows Explorer to navigate to the C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft Lync Server 2013Support directory, and click on OcsUmUtil.exe.

2. The Exchange UM Integration Utility dialog box appears. Click Load Data, which causes the Exchange UM Dial Plan Forest field to automatically populate the AD forest name, as shown in Figure 21.10. Any UM Dial Plans that have been created in Exchange also appear in the SIP Dial Plans column.

3. Click Add, and then at the Contact dialog box click Browse. Use the OU Picker to browse Active Directory and select the organizational unit that will be used as the location for the contact objects. It is also possible to create a new OU for this purpose by clicking the Make New OU button. After the OU has been specified, click OK to return to the Contact dialog box.

4. Review the default setting and make adjustments where necessary. For example, default values are displayed for the contact name and SIP address, but these can be edited if necessary. In the Phone Number section, verify that the phone extension specified as the subscriber access number in Exchange UM is automatically populated, as shown in Figure 21.11.

5. Keep the default Contact Type of Subscriber Access, and then click OK to create the subscriber access contact object.

6. To create an auto-attendant object, click Add; then at the Contact dialog box, in the Contact Type section select Auto-Attendant.

7. If several auto attendants have been created in Exchange UM, use the drop-down menu at the bottom of the dialog box to select the auto attendant for which a contact object will be created.

8. Review the remainder of the fields that are automatically populated for accuracy, and make any adjustments if necessary. When finished, click OK to create the autoattendant object.

9. If additional auto-attendant contact objects are needed, repeat steps 6 to 8 to create additional contact objects for these.

10. When finished, exit the Exchange UM Integration Utility.
