Summary
Spending a good deal of time planning for Edge services makes any deployment much easier. Admittedly, there are so many moving pieces to an Edge Server deployment that it is easy to miss something, but Microsoft has made great strides to improve the installation and configuration process with Lync Server. Planning the Edge names, IP addressing, routing, and firewall configuration in advance of any installation streamlines the deployment process.
