In addition to identifying performance baselines, and monitoring the performance of Lync Servers, there are many other critical components of Lync Server 2013 that should actively be monitored to determine the health of the service. Lync Server 2013 allows for various ways to monitor and test the health of the system, all of which are familiar to administrators of the Windows operating system. This section provides an overview of how to use the Windows Event Viewer and synthetic transactions to monitor and troubleshoot the health of Lync services.
