Host Server Hardware Recommendations

When virtualization of Lync Servers is being planned, the virtual host server hardware and configuration have a direct effect on how well the virtual machine guests can perform. You have seen from the Lync Server 2013 guest specifications that there are some pretty specific requirements in terms of hardware and performance. This section summarizes some of the support requirements and performance recommendations to follow when you are specifying a host server. Most of these requirements are based around treating each Lync virtual machine as if it were a physical server with its own dedicated processor, memory, disk, and network adapter. In many deployments it will make sense to have dedicated hardware for the virtual deployment to meet the specific hardware requirements.
