Completing the Migration to Lync Server 2013

So let’s recap where you are at this point. You have deployed a Lync Server 2013 pool in an existing Lync Server 2010 environment. You added a Lync Server 2013 Edge Server and moved all Edge functionality to the new Lync Server 2013 Edge Server. There are only a few items left to finish before the migration process is complete.

At this point the remaining users on Lync Server 2010 should be moved to the Lync Server 2013 pool. This is completed in a similar way as the process that was discussed earlier when we moved a single user using the Lync Server 2013 Control Panel, and Lync Server 2013 Management Shell. The only difference is that instead of selecting a single user in the Lync Server 2013 Control Panel you would select multiple users by pressing Control or Shift on the keyboard while selecting the users you would like to move to the Lync Server 2013 pool.

If you are completing this process in the Lync Server 2013 Management Shell the process would be as follows:

1. Open the Lync Server 2013 Management Shell.

2. At the command line, type the following:

Move-CsUser –-OnLyncServer | Move-CsUser -Target "pool02.companyabc.com"

Caution

This command will move ALL users who were previously homed on the legacy Lync 2010 environment.

3. To verify that the move was successful, use the following command. It should not return any users.

Get-CsLegacyUser

4. The RegistrarPool identity now points to the Lync Server 2013 pool.

Caution

In addition to migrating users, there are several other items that need to be migrated, as detailed in the subsections that follow.
