Using Rooms

Similar to starting an instant messaging conversation, double-click a room to open the contents and begin sending a message. Persistent Chat windows appear in tabs among a user’s other IM windows, and can also be arranged or popped out if necessary.

Type a message and press Enter to deliver the text. The difference with Persistent Chat is that the message will still be there the next time the user or any other user visits the room.

Persistent chats sometimes involve longer posts, referred to as stories. To enter a large portion of text that doesn’t cause the room to scroll very far, right-click in the text window and select Post as a Long Message. Then enter a message title and post the longer text. Other users see the longer message as a collapsible hyperlink that helps keep the room organized.

Users within the same room are displayed along the top in a Gallery View, but for larger rooms it can be useful to see a bigger roster. Click the participants icon at the bottom of the room to view an expanded roster.
