It is also possible to purchase Lync Online by way of a more comprehensive Office 365 Suite subscription plan. Several of the Office 365 “E” plans include Lync Online Plan 2, and the highest-level subscription plan (E4) also includes Lync Online Plan 3. With the licensing included in Plan E4, an organization also has the option of applying Lync Plus CALs to users of an on-premise Lync deployment, while granting those same users access to the other Office 365 applications in the cloud. For some organizations, this may be a cost-effective way to provide users with full Enterprise Voice features via an on-premise Lync deployment, but use the cloud for the other Office 365 applications. Table 28.2 shows the components that are included in the Office 365 “E” subscription plans at the time of writing.
