Stems

Each group of sounds will be routed to its specific stem output. Any effects returns for reverb, modulation FX, etc., need to also be routed to the proper stem outputs.

If you plan on using a specific reverb for dialogue and some sound effects, it will be necessary to have two FX channels with the same reverb on both. One can be used for dialogue and routed to the dialogue stem while the other can be routed to the SFX stem and be used for those sound effects. The concept is that you want those sounds completely isolated from each other.

You do not want the reverb from dialogue to be heard on the SFX stem. The problem arises in things such as foreign language versions where the dialogue stem will be removed and replaced with the appropriate foreign language dialogue. If reverb from the English version can still be heard on the SFX stem, the process is somewhat defeated. Ensure that the stem tracks are truly isolated.
