PART IV Mixing

You’ve spent countless hours editing your project to perfection and are now ready to mix. Granted, along the way you’ve already started blending tracks together to hear what you are working on all the time. But now you are at the final stage and a more refined approach can be taken.

In Part IV, “Mixing,” we will take a look at how Nuendo can be configured to mix in multiple formats from mono on up to 10.2 surround sound but focusing on stereo and 5.1 formats. The mixing engine in Nuendo is of the finest quality with extended flexibility for working entirely in the box or interfacing with traditional analog consoles and analog outboard gear. Various scenarios will be explored to demonstrate these configurations and how they can be achieved.

Features in the Control Room mixer provide professional tools to aid in calibrated mixing environments, metering and room equalization and optimization, multiple speaker systems, and external inputs for working with other devices. We will look at ways to configure the Control Room to aid the mixing process.

The Export Mixdown window has advanced features for delivery of audio files to all current formats from multiple output configurations. For those working in game audio and other areas that require the creation of thousands of individual files, batch exporting brings relief to the tedium. Creating final delivery format audio files is a mundane but critical task that will be outlined for several workflow scenarios.
