So let’s put it all together:
G and H to zoom out and in
Shift+F to zoom out to the entire project
F for Follow the Cursor or Auto-Scroll
Stationary cursors to have the waveforms scroll past the cursor
Return to Start after stop
Suspend Auto-Scroll for editing
L to locate to selection
P to set left and right locators to selection
Ctrl/Command+(Keypad 1 or 2) to set left and right locators
Keypad 1 and 2 to move the cursor to the left or right locator
Markers
N to move to next event boundary, B to move to previous
That might seem like a bit much to start with, but after you use this set of tools for a while, moving around a project can be fast, accurate, and easy, giving you a more streamlined workflow.
There are many other tools in the bag for navigation in Nuendo that are more specific and can be integrated as you find your way of working. For an idea of the possibilities, open Nuendo’s Key Commands window found in the File menu, and go to the Transport section. (See Figure 5.15.) Have a look at all the possible operations that can be mapped to a key command.
With time and experience, you will develop your own navigation style. Nuendo simply offers a deep set of tools for you to use in refining that technique. This concludes Part I, “Setting Up.” In Part II, “Recording,” you will begin to use these tools to actually do some recording.
