MediaBay
The MediaBay is similar to the Pool in that it gives you access to various media files you can use in Nuendo. However, the MediaBay scans all of your hard disks for any type of media file, keeping track of their location and allowing you to search this database for just the file you need. Queries can be made for name, file type, metadata, length, format… you name it and you can search for it in the MediaBay. These files include preset files for anything in Nuendo: channels, VSTi’s, plug-ins, groups of audio files, sound FX libraries, MIDI files, the list goes on.
Basically, the MediaBay is your one-stop shopping for all the files on your system. (See Figure 4.24.) Once you find a potential file, the tools are there for you to audition that file before bringing it in to your project. With MediaBay’s extensive Boolean and attribute search tools, even gargantuan libraries can be managed and utilized quickly.
As the specific documentation for the MediaBay is quite good in Nuendo’s operation manual, this book will concentrate on actually using the MediaBay in various situations. Specifics related to those items will be discussed as they come up in each chapter.
