15 Automation

The automation system in Nuendo is derived from large format consoles used in film mixing, such as the Euphonix System 5 Series. Features that film mixers have enjoyed for many years had yet to be integrated into DAWs until the latest generation of Nuendo’s automation system.

In addition to standard features such as Touch, Latch, Cross-Over, and Trim modes, Nuendo’s sophisticated automation gives you the ability to control which types of automation data are written, read, and displayed. Instead of one linear undo trail, the automation has a passes function, which supports multiple branches of undo, giving you options for auditioning various automation passes before committing to one.

Virgin territory allows you to write only the automation you need without filling in areas that do not need it. The Preview workflow offers powerful features such as AutoPunch and Touch Assist for post-production where large numbers of controls can be written for whole sections (such as scenes) quickly.
