3 Nuendo’s Basic Layout

In this chapter, we will provide an overview of the GUI of Nuendo to familiarize you with the various elements and interface of the main windows. We’ll start with one audio and one MIDI track and take a look at how the GUI works.

To create these two tracks, follow these steps:

1. Select Add New Track from the Project menu (see Figure 3.1). A submenu with all the various track types will open.

2. Select Audio Track. The Add Audio Track dialog box (Figure 3.2) will appear, allowing you to choose the quantity and configuration of audio tracks to be added. For now, choose one mono track. The choices for track configuration are diverse, to say the least.

3. From the Add Track menu, choose MIDI Track. The Add MIDI Track dialog box will open. Select one and press Add Track. One MIDI track will be created.

4. You should now have two tracks in the project window. It will look something like Figure 3.3.
