Project timelines

Once you know what you need to do, the next step is to define the timelines required for it to be delivered. Though it sounds easy and simple, it is not. There are various other factors that a consultant needs to consider when deciding the timelines, because once you commit the timelines, you must adhere to them. Delays usually leave a bad impression with the client.

Requirement gathering helps you to get insight on those aspects which may impact the overall timelines. It is always good to know what the data sources are, if there is a direct connectivity available with these data sources, what the data linking fields are, what the complexities of the logic are, and so on. Misunderstanding any of these points can hamper the delivery. Thus, requirement gathering helps you to know all these points and finally decide the achievable timelines for the project.
