Generics are the drugs which are manufactured by pharma companies once the patent (brand name) held by the original pharma manufacturer expires. Generics should be equivalent to the brand medicine in terms of API, intended dosage strength, and way it is administered. Generics too come under the regulatory bodies. They help to bring down the prices of the drug (reason being multiple pharma companies manufacturing the same drug).
