Doctors and Physicians are the critical people for any pharmaceutical company. The doctors are the ones who actually prescribe a drug for the patient. A particular drug may be manufactured by several pharma companies and it's largely up-to the doctor to prescribe a drug from a particular pharma company.

Hence, pharma companies take lot of efforts to catch attention of doctors. The doctors are frequently visited by representatives of the pharma companies, often referred to as Medical Representatives (MR). The MRs provide free samples of medicines to the doctors. The doctors are many times even sponsored by the pharma companies to attend important conferences, seminars, and events.
