Any requirement, either for BI or software development for any other purpose is meant to get certain ouput. For example, you want to have a software solution like ERP to make sure that all transactional entries are automated and error free. You want to have a reporting system to make sure that better insights can be obtained from data and better decisions can be taken.

In the same way, it is important for a consultant to know the objective of the business behind implementing a BI project like Qlik, because it will help him/her to drive the Qlik project from the requirement gathering phase in the direction of achieving this objective.

If the consultants know these objectives, they can prepare a list of the right questions that should be asked of the business users in requirement gathering, which will give them the right information. They can keep their focus on getting the quick win requirements, which can help them to generate confidence in business about the Qlik project.
