Requirement workshops are the discussions with the business users to understand the requirements in detail. The brainstorming session will give you a brief level of requirement gathering, whereas the requirement workshop will take you through the detailed requirement gathering.

Requirement workshops are generally done with an individual person or a group of people who are currently generating the reports or analyse manually or with semi automation.

Requirement workshops are an effective way of gathering the requirements, because they help you to interact directly with the business users who are currently developing the reports and analysis. It helps the consultant to have a look at the entire process of reporting and understand the complications of the same.

Requirement workshops not only help to get the requirement, but also help to have a discussion on couple of complex reports or requirements which the business users find difficult to develop. In such discussions, the consultant can take the business users through a couple of important KPIs or reporting matrices which are being used by the same industry.
