No recurring conversations

At times, a consultant thinks that requirement gathering can be done only at the start of a project, but it is not true. He may need to do requirement gathering while the project is halfway or when a small delivery is ready. This is because not all the business users know what they want; they may visualize their requirement only after a couple of rounds of discussions.

It is important for a consultant to know the exact needs of the business users, and for that he may also guide them, but that may or may not be possible in a single meeting.

A consultant should not assume that only one meeting with such business users will get him/her all the information and clarification about the needs of the business users. At times, the business users have clears idea about what they need, only after seeing the sample visualization of similar requirement relating to their industry. So, a consultant should conduct a recurring meeting with such users to make them visualize and think more about what they want.
