Single node architecture

Single node architecture contains the installation of single node Qlik Sense site. As we have seen, this is a configuration where all the services and repository databases are installed on a single server.

Single node architecture is useful when there is a small user base and the small amount of data is being used for analysis. Typically for small and mid-size companies, a single node architecture can suffice.

For example, a company which has a limited number of users and a couple of Qlik Sense dashboards with small data size can use single node architecture. A single node architecture is easier to manage. Based on the roles available in Qlik Sense management console, organization can assign the development role to specific users and to another set of users the role of publishing the final application to specific streams.

The following figure shows a single node architecture:

Advantages of single node architecture:

  • Simple to install
  • Faster access to the repository database

Disadvantages of single node architecture:

  • Does not provide scalability option
  • Failure of central node leads to application becoming unavailable to users.
