The Elicitation and Collaboration knowledge area and tasks

The Elicitation and Collaboration Knowledge Area includes the following tasks:

  1. Prepare for elicitation.
  2. Conduct elicitation.
  3. Confirm elicitation.
  4. Communication business analysis information.
  5. Measure stakeholder collaboration.

These tasks focus on what is involved when the business analyst performs elicitation to uncover requirements and collaborates with stakeholders throughout the initiative they are assigned to.

It is important to note that elicitation and collaboration is not a phase in the project or initiative, but rather an ongoing and recurring part of your role as a business analyst. Elicitation and collaboration is a collaborative activity and it may lead to further analysis and elicitation activities.

The objective of all elicitation and collaboration activities is to formulate a complete, relevant, and accurate set of defined business needs and requirements to use during the next stages of the initiative. The outputs of this Knowledge Area will become the basis for all other business analysis activities that you'll perform.
