Question types

You might be wondering what types of questions you can expect in the exam. Having been part of the exam IIBA® delineation committee and having been through the CBAP® exam itself, I can confidently say that the exam question types are varied throughout the exam. It tests your ability to recall specific facts, interpret facts, solve problems, recognize patterns, analyze material, and draw sensible conclusions. There are a number of questions expecting you to draw conclusions from specific case studies or scenarios.

The CCBA® exam will have slightly fewer question types expecting you to respond to case studies; however, these questions do exist in this exam, as well as in the CBAP®. These are often viewed as the harder questions that require you to apply your practical experience and knowledge in a cohesive manner.

This study guide includes mock questions of all these questions types, and you should make sure you review and practice answering all the different types of questions in preparation for the exam. This will enable your mind to absorb a sense of what to expect on exam day, as well as prepare and synthesize the specific knowledge you need in order to pass the exam on the day.
