What is the requirements allocation?

Requirements allocation is an activity where requirements are assigned to specific solution components or planned releases to ensure that the requirements are delivered in the most efficient way while providing the highest business value. 

A real-world example could be that it would be rather pointless to implement a special Christmas-themed product or service at the wrong time of the year!
