Core competency 5: Methodology knowledge

Methodology knowledge refers to the knowledge a business analyst has of different methodologies that are followed by different organizations. This knowledge is about understanding the context, dependencies, opportunities, and constraints that are defined so that a suitable business analysis approach can be developed.

Having strong methodology knowledge enables a business analyst to quickly grasp roles and responsibilities, the accepted risk level, and a general understanding of how a change will be approached and managed for an initiative. It enables the business analyst to also be adaptable, which as we previously learned is another important core competency for a business analyst to master.
