Stakeholder

This core concept really refers to how the stakeholder has a relationship with need, the change, and the solution. Specifically, in the knowledge area of Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring, the concept of "stakeholder" is applied in terms of how the stakeholder's needs and characteristics are understood within a given context.

Let's look at an example to bring this concept of the stakeholder into the real world:

In this example, you will appreciate that these stakeholders are geographically dispersed and not necessarily used to providing stakeholder or solution requirements for systems. As part of the Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring activities, you need to incorporate their unique characteristics and needs and therefore make sure that whichever requirements elicitation plan and approach are defined will work well with these types of stakeholders and their environment.
