Requirements traceability is documented and maintained in line with the methods and tools identified by the business analysis approach. Many organizations today will manage traceability with elaborate spreadsheet templates, but it should be noted that there are sophisticated requirements management software tools, such as Jira, that are available to facilitate effective traceability on projects.

In this section, we have learned about the purpose of tracing requirements as well as understanding what the different types of relationships are that could be used as a base for tracing requirements. In this section, we also covered some of the tools used to trace requirements, as well as gain an understanding of the level of formality required when it comes to tracing requirements on an initiative.
