With this competency, it is important for the business analyst to have an understanding of the organizational strategy and goals, how they generate profits, and generally, what business they are in. It is also crucial to develop an understanding of the different business units within an organization and how they relate to each other. This includes learning about the people occupying senior positions and understanding the formal and informal communication channels (which could be political aspects that influence decision-making) of the organization.
