NEGATIVE SPACE

Generally used to describe a void created
from the relationship of two or more design
elements and the associated positive space.
Negative space is frequently used to describe
aspects of large layouts, but can also be
used to describe elements of typography,
where letterforms generate relationships of
negative and positive space with neighboring
letterforms. Logos, because they are gener-
ally small, are often designed with careful
attention paid to the relationship of negative
and positive space. See also fi gure-ground
and white space.

user experiences.
