SATURATION
ˌsa-chə-ˈrā-shən, n
The purity of a color relative to the amount of
gray it contains. Pure hues are fully saturated
and appear vivid. As saturation levels are de-
creased, a color becomes increasingly muted,
despite remaining the same hue. Desaturation
can be accomplished by adding gray to a hue
(resulting in a tone) or by mixing in a smaller
portion of its complementary color (resulting
in a shade).

SANS SERIF
san-ˈser-əf, n
A term used to refer to any number of
typefaces lacking serifs, the small strokes
at the ends of a character’s main strokes.
Compared to many serif typefaces, sans
serif typefaces typically have less contrast
between their thin and thick strokes, if any,
which can improve the readability of type
intended to be read on a computer screen.

for brochures and some magazines, in which
signatures and the cover are nested together
along a common spine, secured by way of
wire staples, and then trimmed.
