SCRIPT TYPE
ˈskript ˈtīp, n
Any one of a number of typefaces designed
to imitate handwriting. Although script type-
faces can lend an elegant, somewhat personal
touch to a block of text, they should generally
be used sparingly and only in the appropriate
context. Invitations and announcements, for
example, often use script type very effectively.
Long passages of text set in script, on the
other hand, tend to wear on the reader.

SCREEN PRINTING
ˈskrēn ˈprin-tiŋ, v
A printing process in which ink is forced
through a fi ne mesh screen and onto the
surface of the material to be printed, such as
paper or fabric. A stencil, created either by
using another material or by sealing the sur-
face of the mesh itself, is used to determine
which areas of the surface will be inked. The
most common use of screen printing is for
clothing production, but the process is also
used for printing on irregular surfaces. Also
called silk screening.
