An absolute typographic unit of measure
equal to 12 points. Six American picas are
equal to 0.9936 inch, whereas six PostScript
picas are equal to one inch exactly. A pica em
is a space one pica, or one-sixth of an inch,
in width.

PHOTOMONTAGE
ˈfō-(ˌ)tō -män-ˈtäzh, n
A term used to describe the process of
creating a photographic composition by
combining elements from several other
photographs. The result, which is also called
photomontage, or montage, is produced
by way of cutting and pasting, either in the
literal sense or by using digital image-editing
software. Photomontages created manually
are sometimes photographed upon comple-
tion, thereby giving the impression of it being
a “straight” photograph. See also collage.
