CONDENSED TYPE
kən-ˈden(t)st ˈtīp, n
A typeface in which each letterform is
narrower than the “regular” versions of the
same typeface. In addition, each letter is set
closer to adjacent letters, thus allowing for
greater amounts of type to fi t into a given
space. Because the resulting readability suf-
fers somewhat, condensed type is generally
reserved for titles, display type, or other appli-
cations in which the passages of text are brief.

posite typically refers to a single photograph
or illustration within a larger creative work.
